Sidelines Roll Call - who's idle and why?

OK, a lot of the "where are the cars?" got me to thinking (dangerous, yeah, I know)...

- If you have a car and are not running it this year, what is the class?

- What is the reason that you're not running it?  Sponsorship?  Gate costs?  Tire costs?  Low purse?  No help?  No time?  Dislike the French fries in the pits?  Promoter or other competitor cheesed you off?

- If it's been idle for a long time, what could a promoter do to get you to the track?

There have to be a few dozen street stocks and probably as many Modifieds in garages out there that would be on the track in different times.  Maybe if there's a specific reason (other than the obvious "lack of money") that would get a few more cars onto the track, we could find it and go from there.

Great Thread idea Bakes  :D :D  Nice to have a thread that isn't dominated by "....I know you are but what am I?......."  It's becoming Disgrace NY. Be interesting to see how many cars are parked.

:mad:Poor promoters, crashfests in street stocks, bad food according to wife and kids, too high of gate price.
I raced for fun of it ,not to make money. but to take it in the a## every week, it was time to sell car ,an its gone.20 yrs around racing so im not a rookie.

I'm sitting because have had 3 cars this year all 3 different classes. All of them had or have different motor problems. Hope to get the only one have left fixed and get out there soon.

I`m off this week and possibly next.
New car is wrecked and has no oil pressure, put a new motor in the old car and blew it up last week.
Really sucks cuz I was 5th in points. :'(

I wil be MIA for a couple of weeks with motor problems. Caught it before it broke anything, so maybe my luck is changing !!!!

I built a brand new car with one hell of a motor. I lost a sponsor that I though I had, the great race team I was with and my daughter has been very sick and in and out of the hospital. With the costs so high now it costs over $300 just to go and run one race. So the extent that I have been able to enjoy my car is 2 races and putting it in car shows. I guess the good news is that I will have a new looking car for the big shows at the end of the year if I have the money by then. I think that the worst part is that people that have helped my along the way and I have made promicies to them that I have not been able to keep because of the things that have happend in my life. thanks for the thred if any thing it lets me vent the things for others to know.

Traded my race ready 4cyl SS for an IMCA mod that needed an engine. Engine is in but still need some parts and cash is short. Radiator, fan and spacer, hoses, belts, air cleaner and pans, carb spacer, RR shock. Fuel lines from pump to carb and fuel log. So if anyone has any working donor parts laying around taking up space, pass them on. LOL.

I'll probably just hold out and start next year fresh.

We're idle because Jake is back at college trying to fit a 5 year engineering program in four years and Dusty and I are at the RC Welding Supply store 60+ hours a week.  We were ready to head to Redline till the wheels fell off that deal and we haven't been to DH2 yet.  We've still got all of our stuff, we just need to focus on the store right now and that is pretty time consuming.  In the grand scheme of things, hopefully, the new shop will be done before next racing season and all my fabrication stuff can be moved to there so we can have our race shop back!  See everyone then!
