my opion is that all tracks half 2 come 2 an idea like crate only motor rule and build what you got there is alot of used parts out there off most classes racing 2day and have at it

the cost of of a new motor and all the parts to go along with it at the min 5000 for a motor that should cost half that if you find them used there junk that's way there not being used and not only that but Finley most of the tracks are on the same page for the rules

I believe that we will be just fine the way things are sounding for next year.We have a number of new people looking to get into a street stock and a number of guys who had some bad luck this year that are planning on coming back. The problem with making us run a crate motor is, some of us already have a motor that cost to much now what will we do with them through them away. And some don't have the money to buy a crate engine so what do they do, quit. Maybe they should open the rules up to allow different types of chassis, set back, offset, Camaro what ever, maybe even jacking bolts as they aren't all that expensive. I know that some cars were turned away this year because of these type of things. But I'm not sure that these type of things will help as most street stock drivers stay close to home and already have tracks that they call home. As far as you guy's who want to get into the class and do not have a car, please don't start asking to run an old super stock as there are alot of street stocks out there for sale or just build one, or run a late model. One thing to remember, rule changes cost us money and when guys from other tracks only show up once during the season the only ones your hurting are the people who have supported the track for years. Maybe there could be some provisions made for the ones that are only coming once or twice a year.jmo ???

The biggest problem I see with the class is that the rules at most tracks have never been updated to include any of the newer more readily available production cars. There are a number of production cars out there that fit the basic concept of the class, but most rules don't allow strut cars, unibodys, independent rear suspensions etc. So instead of changing the rules to allow those types of cars the rules keep getting changed to allow more and more purpose built racing parts that fit the dinosaur monte carlo chassis. Mostly because it's the only way to keep those cars on the track since you can't find a-arms, body panels, etc anymore. so what we have now, at most tracks, is pretty close to what the old superstocks were. Purpose built parts get expensive. A lot more expensive than pulling an old car out of a hedgerow. I think the answer is not to create one more class of fully fabricated all out racecars, but to get back to the spirit of the rules and start allowing stockcars to race again. Screw crate engines, what about an OEM fuel injected V6? Remember years ago when 6 cylinders were actually allowed and they were competitive with the V8's?

I say leave the rules the way they are. Maybe lock the rules for five years that way if someone wants to build a street stock they know it will still be up to date in a year or so when they get it around. Also i think they should promote the class more and finally i agree with the other post i read, PAY THE CLASS! Everyone knows your not gonna make money in this hobby but come on.

jeff i didnt meen 2 afeend anybody i just see whats going on in the streets i loved that class and i seen what you did in that new chassis wow what a differance so why not keep keep building set up and set up of cars in street stock so a guy can move up im not trying 2 degrad class but keep guys moving forward

OK, here goes... I have battled each and every rule change for the last five years, but to no avail. We now get 12-16 cars a week. Is that a result of these changes? Who can really say? I agree with Jeff to a point, $3200 up front for a crate engine is alot for most Street Stock guys. However, we have well over $5000 in our Caddy's engine, so a crate looks like a bargain to me. So maybe instead of introducing the crates, we re-introduce some of the old engine rules. Bring back the cam lift rule, restrictor plates and stock heads. There are plenty of 305 heads readily available, which will hold together nicely with the mild 435 lift rule. Add in a stock 2 barrel intake and PRESTO! I just saved you THOUSANDS! As I've always contended, going faster doesn't mean better racing... Phase all these "change backs" in over the next 3 or four seasons and then require in a nice 7" wide DOT tire (say, maybe a Towel City) and the class will be back to 30 cars in five years...

I think that leaving the cars the same would be the best bet, any major changes either way will cost more money or people will loose money. If they let the rules go to much farther they will end up as the old super stocks, and some tracks are close. Going backwards will surely end the class because they will become a "woodhull only" car because they wont be able to compete anyplace else and no one will be able to come race.

ah yes the ole towel city tire. those were the good days hey todd. lol. Wasnt there a couple different recap type tires guys could choose from. bring back a small tire war. let guys have a choice

I'm not offended Rod. I think that it is a pretty good topic. There are alot of ideas out there and you really can't say for sure what would be right and what would be wrong. I kinda lean towards what Jarred said. Leave the rules alone for 5 years. Like I said earlier, I believe the cars will be back next year anyway.

woodhull Dundee skyline fivemile dirt Afton arcade littlevalley all are basically the the same rules with a few differences. but all these cars show up at the end of the year for the big races and are competitive so way not get every one on the same page this makes for more cars and more fans may be then the weekly purses may go up

So lets get all the tracks to get on the same page with the street stock rules and then car counts in this class will go up all over the place.... IMO...

Im sure tires are an issue as it is with many different classes all over the state...
