ERICK RUDOLPH WINS BY HALF A CAR LENGTH OVER TODD SZEGEDY, WITH CHUCK HOSSFELD ON HIS BUMPER FOR THIRD. IT IS THE FIRST CAREER VICTORY FOR RUDOLPH, WHO BECOMES THE YOUNGEST WINNER IN NASCAR WHELEN MODIFIED TOUR HISTORY AT 17 YEARS, 6 MONTHS, 3 DAYS. HE ECLIPSED THE MARK SET LAST YEAR BY RYAN PREECE AT 17 YEARS, 10 MONTHS, 25 DAYS.
What a great race. Way better than I expected. The tour definitely redeemed themselves after that ebarrassment of a show they put on last year. Big congrats to Rudolph on his 1st tour win. Great runs also by Chuck Hossfeld, Rowan Pennink, and Todd Szegedy who came up just a few feet short. Hossfeld definitely made a statement. I hope that team runs a few more tour races and takes one from them in THEIR back yard. I was glad to see Rowan Pennink have a good finish. He had a good run going last year when he was dumped by the 17 late in the race. He's one of very few up and coming drivers on the tour that doesn't have that slam bang sk mentality.
Small crowd was most likely from a combination of raining out Saturday night, the high ticket price, and the lousy show the tour put on last year. I timed my arrival just right as I got there as the mod heats were starting and didn't have to sit through the racecar hockey event. That class couldn't suck more if it was sponsored by Hoover.
Thanks for the videos! I've seen some great races over the years at Spencer, Hoag, Evans, Troyer, the Catalanos, the Leatys, the Kents, TJ, Hossfeld and more! Also some stinkers, Spencer is a tough track, must be the water! Glad to see Matt H. get the win, hope Mike Leaty can have the same success on the Tour someday. Both those young men are chips off the old block. I've been all over the country, little compares with the modifieds of the Tour or the ROC.
