The stat box at the bottom of the home page says that there are over 5500 members signed up for Race New York yet only about 50 ever say anything about the various topics.Just an observation.

The vibrant life forms that once flourished here have moved on. Other media and other ways to express your interest, feelings, concerns and poke fun at ???_________ have taken root. Nothing last forever...not even RaceNY.

DEAD....., and I mean that with respect.

But, the future on the sport...at least in western NY, asphalt-wise, pavement racers or dirt, depends on peeps getting involved here. Like the old days.

PLEASE watch "The Social Dilemma" on Netflix. It explains why RaceNY world went away. It's simple...Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter ran away with all of you's. Our racing community here on RaceNewYork...come back.

It's true...about 2016, everybody ran to Facebook...and they still do, and Twitter too.

Hey, it's a great communcation medium, but so is RaceNewYork. We appreciate your dedication.

I am old school and dont even own a cell phone just a flip phone for emergency.I feel that technology has ruined a good portion of the world including racing. You can read my post on the PHONE PEOPLE in the off topic thread.I look forward every morning to getting on her with a good cup of coffee or later in the day and night with a cold beer to check the latest racing news and i try to promote some discussion to get people talking especially in the winter months.I will keep on trying i guess.

While I agree with what "Admin" and "BOZO6106" have said, I also believe that this Covid 19 attack on the world, also played a big part in today's situation. In NY State, we saw the "Governator", who obviously isn't a fan of automobile racing (as well as a number of other things, but that's a whole 'nother topic) pretty much put racing out of business, for the 2020 season. With a hit like that, it's tough to come back. 2021 saw some light at the end of the tunnel, but with the resurgence of cases of Covid, that we're seeing, again, the 2022 season could be a rough one, too. And, if that's not enough, the state of the economy isn't going to help.

FWIW, I'm not into Facebook, Twitter, or any of those silly sites, either. Yeah, I do log on to several automotive related sites, and of course, use Yahoo for research. But that's it, for me. And while my wife talked me into a "smart phone", I think it's a waste of time and money.

Technology has it's place, that's for sure. But, those companies mentioned earlier have wrangled peoples interest away. Just look at all the tracks that use it for their #1 way to communicate.

That's not a complaint but more of a reason. Kinda like we're a motel on the old main road, BEFORE they put in the information super highway that kinda bypasses us.

However it might all come back full circle and in the meantime we're grateful for your continued participation. Maybe we should serve free breakfast and dinner....:coffee:;)

Ok, I'll start a conversation. It won't happen but we can ask. I think Lancaster, Wyoming County, and Holland need to finally standardize their Street Stock rules. You shouldn't have to change so many things to go run a special at a different local track. I know, I'm an idiot for asking.

I agree. You may not remember, but back in the 70s, I believe it was, that Spencer, Shangri-La, and Fulton got together, and "standardized" their rules and specifications, in order to increase car counts at the 3 tracks. They called the deal "NEARA", or something like that. It more or less worked for a while, as Spencer's ran on Friday nights, Shangri-La ran on Saturday nights, and Fulton ran on Sunday afternoons.

Then, at some point, the tracks tried the "our rules" policy, in an attempt to have people build cars that were "legal" at only one track or the other, thinking that it would insure good car counts at "their track". But given the costs involved, today, to field a car, I would think that it would be wise to use common rules, to allow the racer, the one who ultimately pays the bills, more opportunity to race......as well as draw a decent crowd to the track.

NEARA stood for Northeast Auto Racing Association and was very successful for about 3 years, they also included the modifieds as Maynard Troyer was the president one year.I know that George Kent was the overall modified champion one year probably 1976.NEARA lasted from 1976 to 1978 and then greedy Bub Benway put dirt down in 1979 at Fulton and there went one of the best asphalt tracks there ever was.Spencer and Shangri-la luckily did not follow suit.
