Story by Joe Cook
(Woodhull, NY) Rain showers all week opened into a beautiful Saturday evening at the Woodhull Raceway. The Insinger Performance Modifieds opened their season. Dayton Brewer and Russell Morseman would lead the field to the 25-lap main event. Brewer would hold off Morseman after several restarts after early yellow flags. Meanwhile, Stacy Jackson would move forward from his sixth starting position. After Jackson got by Morseman for second, the yellow would come out once again. Stacy Jackson would power by Dayton Brewer on the restart, and he would never look back. Jackson would be the class of the field and go on for his first checkered flag of 2025. Teammate, Jake Dgien, would finish 2 in the runner-up spot. Reigning track champion, Brady Fultz, would drive from 14th to finish 3rd. Dayton Brewer would wind up finishing 4th, and Carter Crooker would round out the top 5.
Next up were the Wicked Tees Warriors. Courtney Thomas and Izzabella Morseman would bring the field to the opening green. Izzabella Morseman would take the lead and never look back. She would lead all 10 laps for her first win of 2025. Courtney Thomas would finish 2nd. 3rd place went to Matthew Freeman, Cadin Thomas would finish 4th, and 5th would go to Chace Warner.
The CRSA would then make their first appearance at the Steuben County bullring in 2025. Paulie Colagiovanni and Timmy Lotz would lead the field to the green in the 25-lap A-main. Paulie Colagiovanni would lead until lap 5, where a caution would bunch the field back. Timmy Lotz would capitalize on the early restart and take over the lead. After another caution, Jordan Hutton would go 2 for 1 and jump into second. One lap later he would get by Lotz to take over the race lead. Dillon Paddock would pull off a slider on lap 18, which put him in the top spot. A couple of late race yellows would tighten the field back up, but the field could not capitalize as Paddock would pick up the win. Settling for 2nd was Jordan Hutton. Mikey Smith would finish 3rd. Driving from the back of the pack to finish 4th was Zach Sobotka. Timmy Lotz would round out the top 5.
Jared Green and Jacob Trowbridge would start the race on the front row for the Hometown Excavation Crate Sportsman. Jared Green would take the early advantage. After a few early yellow flags, Tim Guild would take command of the top spot on lap 3. Guild would then run into problems bringing out the yellow flag once again. On the restart, Blake Parsons would take control of the race lead. Parsons and Green would then wow the crowd in attendance with a great battle for the lead. Ultimately, Jared Green could not get by Blake Parsons. However, after a post-race DQ, Jared Green was awarded the win for his first-ever win in a rare appearance at the Woodhull Raceway. Todd Titus would finish in the runner-up position. Branden Morseman would finish 3rd. Blake Lawson and Tim Guild would finish 4th and 5th, respectively.
The IMCA modified division would make its first appearance as a fully sanctioned group in 2025. Kieth Lamphere would start up front, and that is where he would finish. He would have to deal with several restarts, and yellow fever plagued the night. However, no one was able to capitalize, and Lamphere picked up the win in the first of five trips to the track for the IMCA modifieds. Jakub Ingham would finish 2nd. Local favorite Jacob McConnell would come home 3rd. 4th would go to Tyler Belcher, and Dalton Maynard would finish in the final top 5 position. Former track champion Glenn Whritenour, would start in the pole position in the Joe Willcox Performance Automatics Street Stock division. He would take advantage and lead all 20 laps. Teddy Morseman tried about everything he could, but it was all for naught as he would ultimately finish in 2nd. 3rd went to Chris Woodard, who picked up the win in the Ted Morseman Sr. Memorial Dash for Cash earlier in the night. The reigning track champion, Clayton McClean, would end up finishing 4th. Rounding out the top 5 was Luke Boom.
Then, it was time for the Ladd Rd. Auto Hobby Stocks to make their 20-lap feature go. Brandon Conklin and Jason Warner would lead the field to the green flag. Brandon Conklin would make the most of the starting position as he would lead all 20 laps for his first win of the season. This time, the top two would flip-flop as the winner last time out, Dillon Phillip, would have to settle for 2nd. 3rd and 4th went to Scott Brown and Jason Warner. Mike Palmer would finish in the final top 5 position.
Kayleigh Morseman and Chris Hand would lead a full field of Wicked Tees Quad Cs for the 20-lap feature. Kayleigh would lead the race in the early going, having to deal with a few restarts. On lap 2, Tony Dickerson was able to work his way past the young lady to take control of the race. At that point, Dickerson never looked back. A couple of cautions would bunch up the field, but no one was able to take advantage as Tony Dickerson picked up win number 1 of the young campaign. Blake Snyder would finish in the runner-up position. Danielle Morseman would work from the back to finish 3rd. 4th was Dylan Craft, and Kayleigh Morseman would finish 5th.
Congratulations to all our competitors!
