Spencer speedway 2013

Ok here we go....  The schedule is out and there is a lot of twin 20 lap races. So now we doing 40 laps for the same pay? Does anyone have an answer ? Between this and some rules seems like  they are trying to thin the car count for the weekly mods

By my count there is one 35 lap race, one 75 lap race and TWELVE twin 20's. I don't like the schedule, more cost on fuel, tires etc. Not saving us any $$$, if anything costing us lots. Only 20 laps to get to the front, could result in more aggressive driving, all for a smaller purse.

Looks like the Points Champion has a shot at the top Honors Nationally at the end of the year to me.

Talked to Chuck today.

Yes, the purse for the Sunoco Modifieds has been raised.
Yes, most shows will be in twin 20's format.
John White wants to bring the NASCAR championship to Spencer Speedway.

Please just call the track or post on the track discussion forum when you have a question.

Thanks,
John

This forum is for us to discuss things. There no reason for us racers to keep stuff quiet. I hate it every time I or we put something on fb - race ny or wherever and we get told not to wth. Last time I wanted to speak online I put on MY Facebook and I had a rat get me , so this time I put on here and basically samething happened . Same $hit

Riverhead does the same thing. Many twin 30 lappers instead of one 35.  Unfortunately, Riverhead does not pay anything out after the first race. Simply, throw the checker after 30 laps, and then restart them in exactly the positions they were running. So really, it's a 60 lapper.  But points count for both races towards the state championship.  I always thought this was a cheap way to "get more races in."  Is Spencer paying out two purses for two races, or just one purse for the 40 laps?

Mr. Goforit,

I merely made a suggestion on how to get the information quicker than on RaceNY.

If that makes me a rat, so be it.

Oldguy (Rat).

Longislandmaniac,  I would say separate purses for each 20-lap event, as has been the custom in the past.  The purse has also seen an increase.

Unless they do it differently for the mods than they did with the 4cyl/6cyl last year, they took the average finish between the two races and paid one purse.

I think Spencer has to and needs to try something different. They will most likely never tear up and reconfigure the track,so the only other option is changing the race format.Look at the stands, something needs to change.

changing the race format isnt gonna help the stands......hate to say it.............they can hardly get through a 35 lap feature with less than 10 cautions and torn up racecars......20 laps should be awesome sparks flying.......they need PR to help fill them seats, and lower admission prices, even if it is only $2 less, it has to be affordable for a family to go to the races, more pack the track nights,  etc. kids, cant sit through a 40 minute intermission waiting to see racecars, they get bored, antsy, tired, then its just agrivating for the parents, and unless they have a husband racer/crew member they leave, and most likely dont return for awhile......keeping drivers happy and having a show that that they want to come to is key also......they bring crew, family and friends, and sometimes sponsors to the stands.....in all divisions.......if one car leaves a track loses about 30 people........dont bite the hand that feeds you.

Features running the full distance with 3 or 4 cars is boring also. Those races need to be shortend.

As a fan , I like this idea ,,, ALOT ! As a racer ( former , at this time ) I also like it , you get double th chance to race , double the chance to win , double the chance to make your car better , UN fortunately that also means double the chance to wreck (or wreck somebody else ) But most important its double the entertainment for the fans . The last night at Spencers 2012 my friend said halfway through the 100 lap race "I'd leave now , but I'll watch the rest to be polite " . Two twenties will be interesting for sure & I hope it works for the fans first , the racers second , and if it does then that will work for the track as well .

The last 3 cars in the starting field will be allowed dozer blades to be mounted to the front of the car. Get er dun boys!  LOL

Seems to me they are trying to get the 18 races in for the shot at the nascrap state championship. The problem is that in the past tracks used to run from middle of april to end of sept. Now they run from the middle of may till the end of aug. I think they are afraid of the cooler weather. They are losing 4 to 5 race dates because of this. But the funny thing is with "global warming" the warm weather lasts all the way till middle of oct. Look at the fall brawl last year it was nice weather in oct. Chemung last season ran a total of 7 times now thats pitiful, why would you even build a car for that track. Opening the doors consistantly is the only way to drum up a good fan base. Sticking with a consistant schedule of being open on the same day and opening the gates at the same time every week is the only way of getting a regular fan base. Start the season earlier and end it later throw in a couple twins here and there, and you wont have a problem squeezing in the 18 features. Look at mahoning valleys 28 race dates, that place knows how to put on a show.
