I understand that this has little to do with racing in (and around) New York.  Nonetheless, the Southern Modified Racing Series made the following announcement:

For Immediate Release
February 28, 2018

Asheboro, NC ?  Southern Modifed (sic) Racing Series and Hoosier Tire Officials announced a new tire combination after an extensive test sessions during speedweeks at New Symrna and Caraway Speedway.  The new tire combination will be M30 on the left side and M450 on the right side.

Can someone tell me what a Hoosier M450 is?

Thanks.

** CORRECTION**    I received a call tonight and it seems there IS a 450 Hoosier compound. It's used at Stafford and Thompson.
It's a special tire for there and it's not in the standard Hoosier nomenclature.

Live to learn.

I would like to clarify this was not intended to be a dig at Joes ROC mods.. I?m was meaning a lot of the New York classes seem to have higher tire costs than say the east or south.. even some supermod tires are like that too_Obviously NYS taxes suck. ?Stepped? means the more people who touch a tire inflate the cost for the end user aka the racer..I personally like the non point tires they ran up New England way..

A few years back non point tires at Seekonk were $100 when tires here were $150.. I ?think? they were 15 and 28 which are 20 and 30?s here..

What do

RoC tires cost?
MRS tires cost?
Tri Track Series tires cost?
Whelen Tour tires cost?
Southern Modified Tour tires cost?
New Smyrna tires cost?
American Racer tires cost?

I was looking for the answer to this question and learned that Thompson used these same tires in an old press release. I checked Hoosier catalogs and couldn't find 'em.

There?s a lot of tires missing from the catalog, there?s only a couple Super tires there and we use a bunch of different numbered Hoosiers.. I don?t think they ever list the non point tires..The 630 Hoosier was a nice tire..Claremont ran racers at like $135 each..Tires seem cheaper in NE.
