"Shang"....

I was scanning 'Google Earth' a couple of days ago, and as I was heading back to NY, I scanned over the southerntier, looking for any remnants of the original Shangri-La Speedway, but to no avail. Unless I was looking in the wrong place, what used to be the racetrack, now looks like some prehistoric, lunar landscape. Sad.....

Lopkes REALLY needed that little patch of land, YEA RITE , with all of the rural land around here to use and they had to pick that place... Gosh, what wonderful memories we have of EVERY Sat. Nite there, WHAT A SHAME !!! There, now I am done ...

That's the view I saw, too, on Google Earth, and to be honest, I thought I had mistakenly looked at the wrong location. The last time I scanned that map was a few years back, and at that time, there were still remnants of the track visible. But as we all can see, there's nothing left. Then I think about it, and when was the last race held there, close to 20 years ago?

Not that I wanted to see the this legendary track destroyed, but I believe that "little patch of land" was supposedly needed, because of all the stone that was underneath it.

Old lament...we all miss the old girl but the bigger pain I think is the race place going to waste up on the hilltop.

Had much promise but when a knucklehead runs the show.......well. He was free to build it and wreck it..it's his place.

Yes, I agree I guess, Mike ... I can still hear him saying " if you don't like the way I run this , then DON'T COME BACK " !!! Geeez, another way to look at the problem would have been to = try and correct the things that needed correcting, BUT instead " if you don't like it, don't come back ", just another "SMART business move, Lol !!!

Im surprised some investors didn't try and buy the new track and make things happen. Such a waste of a good facility that had a ton of potential. Probably have to mow the track at this point to even see what kind of shape the concrete is even in! Sad indeed.....

I agree, but based on the comment by "owego26", the track's owner apparently was too self absorbed to give someone else a chance to operate the track, and show how stupid he was........
