Ryan Preece entered in the Tommy/Tony Memorial at Lancaster National Speedway

I thought Ryan Preece did a great job in the Booker Motorsports entry, although a 9th place finish doesn't look like a good run, he ran the #40 Preece numbered tribute scheme Modified hard & raced the ROC regulars just the same! I watched him in practice; of course he had to learn the track, it was his first time at LNS and was feeling things out! GWC time trials; feeling the limitations of the car as he got a little squirly off of 4, to place only 13th in Q time! His heat race was a little bit of a learning curve as well; though he started to find the fast way around LNS by battling some of the top ROC drivers to get a 4th place finish, the last spot for the top 12 redraw! RP drew #3 for the Tommy/Tony 110 Memorial, started 3rd, fell back to 5th;  then quickly made his way up toward the lead by passing guys like Leaty, Petrobowski, Hossfeld & Emerling! Skora made his way to the front and raced Preece for a few laps & to take the lead from him, but was soon out of the picture with an early pitstop on the lap 30 caution! Choosing the outside, the "PIT BULL" raced with Emerling side by side, on the next couple of restarts; the first one grabbing the lead; the next losing it, getting a little sideways, running Emerling clean & hard! Hossfeld would grab 2nd from Preece around lap 50, but would pit the next lap under caution! Emerling & Preece restarted and raced side by side once again, Ryan getting a little more sideways this time and would fall into line waiting for the next caution! Preece made a pit stop from the 2nd position, on the lap 74 caution: The whole crowd was buzzing; the anticipation of a big name driver, with a new right rear tire and adjustments, racing his way back to the front! The Nascar Xfinity regular restarted in the teens, raced his way back toward the top 5, with hard, ground pounding, exciting racing, until the next caution, which went to a red flag! While under this lengthy red flag, for cleaning and burning off the oil in turn 2, I scanned Ryan talking with the Booker Motorsports team about their car, their setup, tire pressures, stagger and was telling them how they can make "this car better, for the next time" they field this entry at LNS! He said that they had a "decent car" as they then went on to talking about what he can do with "these guys in front of me" on the next restart and "pickin them off, one at a time, up to Hossfeld!" Well on that last restart, Ryan would then lose some positions, racing hard on the outside on some ROC regulars, some on older tires, who couldn't hold their line on the bottom, which led to some contact, a couple of times, which unfortunately for them, moved him back to finish in 9th! So NICE JOB TO RP BMS! It's been Great to see some big name drivers (TC & RP) in that Booker Entry!I Can't wait to see who will get the ride for the US OPEN! Anyone want to throw a few names around!......  I'll start ............ how bout they Fill that seat with the local Favorite; multi- time track champion & US Open Winner SUPER SEGE! Love em or hate em, it would be cool to see!

I don't think having Ryan Preece there put any extra fans in the stands.  I sat down in turn 4 and there was alot of bare spots in the stands.  I would rather see the money spent on him put into the modified purse instead.

Furthermore, the modified purse is determined by Race of Champions officials and then agreed to by Lancaster National Speedway management.  Having said that, it was certainly nice to see Ryan Preece make the effort to travel from Bristol, TN and help put on a show for the fans.  Much appreciated.

Its good to see that someone on RNY can try and put a negative spin on what was pretty darn good night of modified racing.  ::)

Let us not forget the 4-wide Salute to the Fans from the modified drivers.  That was cool and also very much appreciated by this race fan.

That was really cool! Although there was a slight mix up at the front of the field; I heard ROC tell the 22 where to line up, as he was lining up in the wrong spot! No worries, RP stuck his ride in there to fill the front row to make it 4 wide! From the ROC one-way "I want to see the 22 team after the race"! (OH OOOH) IMO: I dont think Chucky wanted to go up the track and run around in the marbles for a lap.......but the 4 wide parade lap is greatly appreciated; it looks Awesome and truly is a great salute to the fans!!!

A quick change of subject for a minute free admission every Tuesday at the drags the show last night was outstanding talk about horsepower wow. What a blast!!! Ok back to the Oval stuff lol.

hahaha...funny guy

....Ryan Preece did a great job, and was a great addition to the show. His talent and experience came shining through.....Kudos to the Booker/Hoddick team. They weren't all that good earlier in the day and must have made some great  adjustments. Ryan put on a great show and was in contention for the win.

....We, on the other hand, time trialed 2nd fastest and all went downhill after that. Should have been making big adjustments instead of small ones......

....The racing was awesome, a real treat. 12 lead changes in a 110 lap race. When was the last time you saw that? Dirt, concrete, or asphalt? Chuck was all over the 07 at the end too, the winner was in doubt until the checkered flag waved.........Kudos again to Joe Skotnicki and the ROC and to the Packman and Lancaster.

....Never forget the men who the race was named for. Tony Jankowiak and Tommy Druar. I think they would have been proud of the product Saturday night............................kt

KT,  good to see you back out in the infield. I couldn't help but think that you are enough of a target without the big red X though ;D 8)

LOL....Thanks Beersy, wish you would have stopped by and introduced yourself. Once down in the infield, we realized that we didn't have a pit sign. I WAS the pit board and since I was wearing a black shirt, decided to tape up myself with hot pink duct tape......safety first
