That's not entirely Nascar's fault. However, you can't add hype  to a product that isn't better. For TV the pre race stuff needs to be reduced. They've made 3 big changes for the better, double file starts, lucky dog, and the chase. It's time to take a step further. I don't know what the answer is but opening rules won't make a 1 car team any better.

The drivers are no longer drivers like at the local track, each with their own persona and background. The drivers are products groomed early on and when one goes stale there's another to replace him/her. A kid driving the wheels off a car and getting a shot at age 20-25 is a thing of the past. Now you have to drive the wheels off at age 12-15 or be a marketing magnet. That's how the competition among the big teams has changed the sport and I don't think that's Nascar's doing. With $ comes power and control, you see the same thing in college football and basketball. The big teams aren't teams they are factories to make $. JMO

20% of the race has been taken away. Did they reduce ticket prices by 20%?
I went to Pocono once I would have gladly paid more for a shorter race.  I cant understand how anyone watches 2 races from the stands there

I've only been to Pocono once and it was bad enough that I vowed I'd never go back--now, that will be pretty easy because of my health issues...even at 100 laps shorter, I still would not go again. Smaller attendance? Couldn't tell ya! The sleep-inducing effects of the Long Pond event kicked in pretty early! The repave made the Long Pond sleeping pill more powerful as well (I know it will get better as the surface works in for future races) but sleep will still overtake me long before any pass on the track is ever made...For anyone who loves the place, sorry, the I-80 traffic issues just takes away any enjoyment of the races for me and many others I have spoken with about it.

I thought it was a good race, there was a lot of passing and hard racing. Logano moving martin for the lead picking up his 2nd win, johnson, jr and smoke charging to the front, what more could you actually want out of a race??

Sorry everyone but on today's F-1 race from Canada it started at 2 pm Est on fox and green flag was thrown at 205 pm or around there  ;D. Not like what NASCAR does with a 2 or sometimes 2/12 to 3 hour preshow .  Why? To sell commercials  :(. But last notes Indy car race from Texas started at 8 pm Est on nbcs and green flag at 850 pm Est won by Justin Wilson  ;D

good points-just get tired with getting p*ssed on by Nascar and having them tell us it's raining. I think fans have caught on and older fans, who still have money, are no longer buying into the hype and theatrics

A point not covered by any above post yet was the fact that once again this week the race winner could have been decided by officals. The second to the last caution was 15 miles long. This favoring the cars that stayed out on the track. At Indy they did the same thing but were not sneeky and were out in the open about it so everyone could race to the end without piting.

Looked pretty good to me, some of you guys just love to hate NASCAR. If its that bad don't watch and go to a short track or Formula Un.

It would be nice now that it is smooth with the repave if they would bring the Indy Cars back.CART really never worked with this track on trying to promote racing and on some occasions worked hard against the track. However if it wasnt for the Indy Cars and Tony Hulman the track might not have ever made it.

I've been to Pocono races 6 or 7 times. It was my first nascar race and stand by the opinion its a good track to go to for your first nascar race and maybe your second. After that its only good if your taking newbies or your just there to drink. The first 20 laps are good and the last 20 laps are good. Other than that, goodnight. Its great for a first time nascar person for a number of reasons. 1. its close to home. 2. the speeds 3. if you do the pit pass the accessibility is pretty good. Since then I have been to watkins glenn once and New Hampshire twice. Lets just say I dont feel any need to go back to Pocono. Ever. I can honestly say I've only watched Daytona 500 this year and maybe 20 laps of Bristol. After driving my car last year I started to loose interest in Nascar.

I HAVE AN IDEA--IF NASCRAP COULD---BUT PROBABLY WILL NOT---START PROMOTING LOCAL
RACING TO TRY TO DRAW PEOPLE TO GO TO LOCAL TRACKS AND GET THEM INTERESTED IN
THE SPORT---THEN POSSIBLY START TO DRAW THEM INTO THE NATIONAL CIRCUT ACROSS
THE COUNTRY TO GET THEM INTERESTED BACK INTO THE SPORT----THEN GET SOME ANNOUNCERS
WHO KNOW WHAT THE  H-LL THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT--NOT REPEATING THEMSELVES A
MILLION TIMES--LIKE JR. DID ON THE POST INTERVIEW---SAID LETS START OVER----OR THE
CRAZY INTERVIEW WITH JIMMY JOHNSON---------MAYBE THIS MIGHT HELP---MAYBE ????????

Been to Pocono and I agree, the race is too long. That being said, I went to Bristol last August and there were a fair number of seats available. The racing was so-so. BUT... Mr. B. Smith listened to the fans who did come to the track. I'll be heading back for the night race this August, only because he promised changes to the track that would put some excitement back into the race. I can't think of another track I'd go to to see a NASCAR race. I could almost do a whole season of local modified action for the price of one NASCAR race. I'm missin my mods!
