Although he's stepping down to enjoy his next chapter in life, he will always be a part of its 107 Year History. Jim started racing Late Models in 1971 and continued racing that division through the 1973 season. In 1974 he briefly stepped up to the Limited Sportsman Division before going into the Army and returned to the Sportsman Division for the 1977-78 race seasons. Jim began working at the track as a Gate Keeper at the Flag Stand under Will Cagle and eventually worked his way up to Security, then Pit Steward and from there to the Backstretch. Jim stated that in the winter of 1999 Joann Chadwick called him and asked if he would become the Head Flagger for the track. We all know his answer. Thank you for all you have given to the Hard Clay as a racer and an outstanding Flagger in the track's history!
