NHRA legend John Force's daughter delivers a positive update on his health: "He's such a fighter"

Ashley Force Hood, daughter of John Force, recently took to her official X (formerly Twitter) account to update fans about her father's condition, describing him as a fighter. She shared that he was able to recognize 'Jacob & Noah' when he met them at the hospital- positive steps forward.

NHRA drag racing legend John Force is battling back from a traumatic brain injury sustained in a 300 mph crash at the Virginia Nationals last week. According to his team, he's making daily improvements while in a neurological intensive care unit.

After being moved from a trauma ICU to a neurological ICU this past Wednesday, Force faces a tough road to recovery. His team's statement emphasized that he would remain in intensive care for the foreseeable future and that the path ahead would be challenging.

Updating on the same John Force's daughter shared an emotional photo of him with his grandkids on X. She captioned the post:

"I'm so proud of my dad @JohnForce_FC , he's such a fighter. He has a ways to go, but he's still his same old self at times. The sweetest thing was when he said "Jacob & Noah are my best friends". I was overcome with relief he would recognize them when he finally got to see them!🥰"
On June 23, during the first round of Funny Car eliminations, Force experienced a severe setback when his car's engine blew right at the finish line. The vehicle swerved over the centerline, smashed into the left concrete guard wall, and then rebounded across to hit the right wall.

Initially, John Force Racing revealed that after the crash, the 75-year-old was unable to follow simple commands like opening his eyes, squeezing the hands of his caregivers, or moving his limbs. However, after five days under heavy sedation, he started to pick up steam, able to respond to commands by giving a thumbs-up, recognizing his family members by name, and even saying "I love you."

Fans continue to pray for John Force's speedy recovery

Bob Pockrass previously reported that doctors noted a positive response to Force's treatment. He was transitioned from neuro-intensive care to acute neuro care in the hospital where he was airlifted. Upon seeing John Force with his grandkids in his daughter's post though, fans shared their support.
