OK,., I don't get it, if you hate Nascar so much why are you watching? Plus is it a better race when the stands are full?

With the stuff I read in here I would guess we would be better off if  Nascar closed shop? Right?

This is a similar crowd count to what has been at Dover for a while now. Nothing new. We used to go to the June race at Dover for many years. Stopped going when the racing there ceased to excite us anymore. But today's race hasn't been all that bad. I am flipping around the channels between the Bills (they just lost) , Yankees and this race. Just because we don't do to Dover anymore doesn't mean that I won't watch. I am a race fan first before being a fan of any other sport.

Jaws I agree I don't get it people complain how bad the crowds are and the racing sucks but they watch it????  SMH plus I didn't see capacity crowds at most of the short tracks around here its just the way it is these days. Jmo

people get on here and always make fun of the stands at nascar shows. take a look around at all sports and show me one sport that has full stadiums. i have seen atleast 6 football stadiums which hold half of nascar tracks more then half empty.

People have to realize that the economy is in the crapper and it is not going to get better with the new recession that we are entering.  Our seats when we stopped going to Dover were about $90 a piece back at the end of the '90's. We had 5 seats up in turn 4. Toss in the cost of our hotel...cost of tickets for Saturday, etc. Heck, it wasn't a cheap weekend in any way.

FOLKS--I DO NOT WATCH NASCRAP ANYMORE--THEY JUST TALK ABOUT "JJ " ANYWAYS--I LIVE IN CT. AND HAVE NOT GONE TO A SHOW AT STAFFORD OR THOMPSON IN 15-18 YRS...................FIRST IT IS THE COST--AND SECOND IT'S ALL
ABOUT THE FAVORITES ALL THE TIME--THEY NEVER COVER THE "LONE WOLF TEAMS"................

When do back of the pack guys ever get coverage anywhere?  If ya want coverage run up front get faster!  Brad Keslowski got no coverage running 23rd in points ran good won races (on a dodge team that only has 2 cars) and poof coverage!  Regan Smith,Marcos Arose won and got coverage. Gee imagine that run better get coverage!  jmo

I watched a bit of the prerace and a little bit of the actual race itself but find the ESPN team week. Not sure what Brad D. adds to the program. Funny, prerace I thought I saw more babies being displayed than bottle of Coke for a change

Hmmm I'm detecting a technicality using semantics here... you may not WATCH it anymore but listening to it on MRN or satellite or even the internet HAS to be where you're getting your info; otherwise how would you know about "all about the favorites all the time" such as JJ and the lack of coverage of the smaller teams...your anti-NASCAR stance is pretty strong for your claim of "not" paying attention to current NASCAR but if you are basing your opinion on info from 15-18 years ago.  Seems like more & more of these "I don't watch but somehow I'm still informed" opinions surface a lot on here! Let's not turn this into a local racing vs. national racing crap here either...Isn't the "big time" where many local drivers aspire (or imagine) themselves to be someday??? all this IMHO.

Did anyone see the crowd at the Bills-Bengals game sunday? They needed some banners to cover all the empty seats. Just a sign of the times.

They cover Jr no matter where he is, which is usually in the back. LOL

on the jr comment, kinda hard to make the chase running in the back most of the time isnt it. i agree they talk about him alot more then others but if he were to leave nascar and not be a owner or driver that would take prob 30-35 percent of the fans out of the sport. so they need to talk about him more then others just like johnson and the other 5-6 big names in the sport.

Bingo! THere are more Jr. fans than any other driver by far. Why would they not show him and talk about him.

No, that is what a nascar fan would do.  A true race fan would be at a local short track.

I have attended many NASCAR races at tracks such as Indy, Daytona, Talladega, Atlanta, Louden, and Darlington.  My interest has waned in recent years for a number of reasons and with the exception of the Super Speedways I rarely watch a race.  Instead, I tape the Nascar Victory Lane show each week.  I watch the highlights and fast forward much of the rest.  While watching the highlights the huge number of empty seats stand out like a sore thumb.  It is hard not to notice.  I'm with Groundpounder.  I go to at least one "local" race each week.  I can't wait for this weeks show at Perry!
