Continuing with my 2025 NASCAR race schedule previews:

1.) The weather has already been a factor this weekend. The ARCA "support" race was negatively affected. As of this posting (Sat 3/8) in Phoenix, it's sunny but cool with temps struggling to reach 60...

2.) Goodyear is bringing the "two-tire" option they offered teams at Phoenix and other short tracks last year. Of the two, the softer compound tire has more grip but also wears more quickly. The harder tire sacrifices speed in favor of durability. So, the crew chiefs will have to review their notes from last year to formulate a winning strategy.

3.) In the last 6 races or so, Team Penske Fords have dominated Phoenix Raceway. I wouldn't consider it a surprise if Joey Logano or Ryan Blaney nailed another win; More of a surprise to me would be the other horse in the stable, Cindric.

4.) Christopher Bell is shooting for three consecutive wins. If he does, he will be in rarefied air, as several well-known titans of the sport have 3 or more straight victories during their careers.

5.) Another Toyota driver to watch will be Ty Gibbs. He's been a contender in several races but hasn't yet grabbed the flag. Could this week be the one where he finally gets it done?

6.) Speaking of "so close", Kyle Busch is certainly not used to this season's performances (AKA not winning). But his continuing frustrations could "boil over" and help him finally grab that elusive win.

7.) William Byron and Kyle Larson will likely be the most competitive Chevy's!

8) Because Phoenix is an "oval that races more like a road course", dismissing Shane Van Gisbergen's chances would be a mistake!

9.) Another woman is set to debut in Cup racing: Katherine Legge. Unless someone follows INDY Car Racing or IMSA road racing, her name won't sound too familiar, but she has vast experience and success in both. She admits she has no unrealistic expectations making her first start. She quipped: if her finish is not last place, it would feel like a win for her. Long-time NASCAR owner/driver B.J. Mcleod ("LiveFast" Motorsports owner/driver) is fielding the ride for Legge.

As always, your opinions and contributions are always welcome!!!
