This weekend, ALL three NASCAR National Series roll into the 1/2 mile (5.33 for the OCD crowd) high banked oval that, although roughly the same length, the tracks are completely different. These Cup scenarios will be worth watching:
1.) Denny Hamlin and the No. 11 crew are coming off back-to-back wins at Martinsville and Darlington, and the fans want to know: Can he go for the 3-peat, tying Christopher Bell for this year's number of victories? The odds might be in his favor as he is also the event's defending winner.
2.) Xfinity driver Jesse Love will get his first Cup start in the #33 Richard Childress Chevy.
3.) A name very familiar to fans of Northeast Modifieds, Ryan Peece, is having a banner year, garnering 3 top-ten finishes.
4.) Kyle Busch used to be dominant at the "Last Great Coliseum", completing the sweep of all three divisions in 2010, and he did it again in 2017. Long considered physically demanding, the mere fact that he did it twice in his career speaks volumes. He's often been brash, outspoken, polarizing, and fiery, making for a "love-him or hate-him" character. His wins total is worthy of the Hall of Fame as the results speak volumes! But those successes came in his tenure with Joe Gibbs Racing. Similar results while competing in RCR equipment have been harder to earn as the team has not had much to show for their efforts. Still, he could be knocking on the door to a possible win here!
5.) Third-generation driver and Cup Champion Ryan Blaney will have a chip on his shoulder going into the Food City 500. Despite having blown engines and other issues beyond his control, he's been in contention in many battles...
6.) Another driver, William Byron, will seek revenge this week after a dominating performance last time out.
As always, I welcome contributions and corrections...
