All I can say, is WOW!  If you didn't see the last 25 laps of tonight's race, you will wish you did.  It had everything....daring moves, 3 & even 4 wide racing, flared tempers, differing pit strategies.  When the winner leads every lap, but the last one, is on older tires, but still almost holds on, only to lose by .008 seconds.  Man, I thought sure the top 3 or 4 were all gonna wreck in the last 10 laps, but they didn't. Congrats to all of the top 3 finishers, but in the end, Graham Rahal wanted the win just t little bit more. Still marveling at his over / under move coming out of turn 4 on the last lap.  What a race!

Agreed...It was wacky good!.....At one point they were 4 wide for the lead down the back chute. Another time they were 3 wide going for the lead going into 3 and they all banged wheels............Somehow, they all got through it, no major wrecks.....................kt

5 cars, yes, but they only started 20 (down from 22 originally), and at the pace they were running, with few cautions until late in the race, it isn't surprising. Plus the lapped cars were very much a factor until the last 15 laps, when they had to line up behind the lead lap cars.

It always amazes me when people talk about how many cars finish on the lead lap like it means anything at all as far as the quality of the racing.

I didn't say it had anything to do with the quality of the racing.  But, given how close the Indycar's tend to be on the ovals, the fact that 3/4 of the field was lapped was surprising to me...especially with the preface that they were running 3 and 4 wide (basically everyone on the lead lap).

And - I would rather have the good ole days than farcical means to keep cars on the lead lap (see: debris cautions, wave-around, lucky dog).  Was at a 100 lapper at a local bullring a few weeks ago and there was an argument in the drivers meeting because they said there would be no lucky dog...
