Due to "lack of room", NYC Police Officers, Port Authority Police Officers and FDNY Firefighters are not "invited" to the 10th anniversary of 9/11 at Ground Zero. Funny -they weren't invited on that day in 2001, either -they just "showed up" and became our heroes. Please re-post if you think they belong MORE than the politicians who are invited.

From facebook....can anyone confirm or deny?

The goofy Mayor isn't allowing any religious leaders to say a prayer either which I thought was completely wrong too.......

That is just wrong.  Yesterday and today I saw FDNY here in Conklin helping out with the flood.  The anniversary of 9-11 they aren't invited to and they get to spend it knee deep in water and mud.  Thank You for all you guys at FDNY do.

I am not trying to defend the politicians here but how about the hordes of media attending the event when most of them will show very little content that will be unique or offer much more than coverage akin to the Academy Awards?  The solemness of the occasion will be packed full of advertisements, and others will line their pockets with selling "souvenirs" without regard tor the real reason of the event to never forget what happened, teach those who are too young to remember the significance of it without any political implications so as not to seek and garner votes but most importantly honor the memory of those who died on that fateful day (and show appreciation those who tried to help) just 10 years ago...

well put Mike-exactly what I thought. Seems like every little 100 watt station deemed it necessary to send someone when a consolidated broadcast would have worked as well. (JMO but up here too many news readers who think they are journalists)

Thats so very true Paz, and the reason I really haven't been paying much attention to the TV coverage.

Mayor Bloomberg was also pushing to allow the Mosque near ground zero but won't allow a prayer of first responders at the memmorial service. In case you didn't know there is no "right to bear arms" in the five boroughs of New York City and Mayor Bloomberg is one of the cheif proponnets of taking away that right nation wide as well. In 2006 he even banned a brand of paint called Dura Coat which is a very good coating to stop rust on firearms. It can not be sold in NYC even though it's only a paint product that has hundreds of uses! Everyone in the Big Apple should wake up and vote him out of office!
