Well sun birds/cavaliers are good cars. Some are pretty fast. You do have an automatic which most of the time will hurt you. A few cars have been pretty fast with autos. Overall you did good because the car is clean and if it runs good those are important. You shouldn't have all that much trouble to find parts for it. I think it will be a great beginner car to learn how to drive it. I would suggest also when running it race it in second gear. I wish the best of luck to you with the car.

if its like the sunfire you might be allright.Skipp degroff  did good with his auto sunfire last year.He put a stock rebuild in it which helped i believe.Put her in second and let er scream!Rev limitter will keep it from popping.Get the tires and suspension set up right and you can run  consistant times.New struts are key.Old bouncy struts will kill you in the corners.
Good beginner car.It will get you started.
Google as much about the car as you can. There is all kinds of little tricks to get a few extra ponies that aren't easy to notice or protest.Key with autos is keeping the rpm's up there by choosing the right tire size.Go to the junk yard and get a few sets and keep trying till you find the right set up.Then get four good ones in that size that are a good agressive tread.Alott of people like the green diamonds.
Its going to to some time to get her set up right but that's all the fun.Its not like street stocks where there is tons of information on set ups out there. So many different models of fwd that you cant put it all in one book. Its just trial and error.
Welcome to the cheapest form of racing(well thats what we tell our wives when we start). You will probably end up with piles of spare parts like the rest of us. ;D

I had a toyota celica that was an auto i bought just to mess with and that car was a blast to drive! My foot hurt so damn bad after the races from pushing the gas pettle so hard!!! Just keep it pinned and turn left! Thats what i did... Like the other guys are sayin if u set up the front end good and find the right tire to rpm ratio u will be fine and maybe even better then some either on restarts or long run.... Have fun + good luck!

Tires and Wheels:

Tires and wheels must be stock size for the model of the car.  All four corners must be same size.
No racing tires or recaps.
No aggressive tread design (ex: Blizzard, Snow or Ice Winter Tread).

This is copied from FMP website.  Since the Green Diamond tires are specifically a "snow" tire and they are a "recap" I going to say they probably won't let you run them.

Go to a walmart that has a automotive department by yourself 4 Douglas tires they are $50 a piece and worth every penny. The are a softer compound with an aggressive tread pattern and legal everywhere
