:-[  CROWD DOESN'T LOOK TOO GOOD AT DOVER TODAY---PLENTY OF EMPTY SEATS
ESPECIALLY AROUND TURNS 3 & 4 FROM TV COVERAGE--NOT TO MENTION THE BANNERS
THAT ARE COVERING OTHER SEATS.........ANOTHER GREAT DAY FOR "NASCRAP" RACING......

NASCAR needs a major overhaul. Shorten the races, shorten the season, get rid of the chase, get rid of the top 35 locked in. make it as close to local short tracks as possible.

I never said they were, but, NASCAR's popularity has decreased drastically over the past decade. You can't blame that all on the economy. To many changes, it's not racing anymore. To many rules that favor the over funded teams.

Why do we have to go through this EVERY week? WTF?

The thread title was perfectly clear, no one said you had to read it.
The thread title says "Dover Downs Attendance",

Not "Holy Crap, let's bash NASCAR for the empty seats like we have been doing week in and week out for the last 3 seasons cause it's all so new to us."

Why I quit going:
1. 500 mile races turned into 400 mile races.
2. Ticket prices stayed the same or went higher while the race was shortened 20%
3. NO DALE EARNHARDT

Maybe it has a little to do with the little F@#$head drivers that we have today. Toughguy Kurt was at it again with another reporter.

Who wants to spend that kind of money for racing like that? Not me !!!I go where I can get the most for my racing dollar. There are some local short tracks that are doing well because they offer their fans great racing.Oswego has turned it around because they put on a new coat of paint, fixed the restrooms and a whole bunch of other great improvements.Oswego is also helping the race teams with a plan to get them there each week.I look at Fonda and from the photos I have seen it looks like they are getting good crowds.Go down into central PA and look at Selinsgrove. They have a great racing program and the cost is only $10 to get in for a regular show.Lincoln speedway is another track that packs the fans in as they have some great racing each week.Attitude has alot to do with how people show up at a race track. The way NASCAR has done it it is turning the fans away.Price of tickets, price of hotel rooms, price of gas, going out to eat and the list goes on and on.

I used to have season tickets for the Richmond cup races. Here are some reasons I have not attended a cup race since about May 2007. Money-ticket cost of about 100 dollars a race. Outrageous hotel rates- hotels that triple the price of a normal room due to the race in town. Gasoline-3 to 4 dollar a gallon gas. Just plain Boring racing- lets face it, even Richmond is not as exciting as it was 10 years ago. I am only one person of thousands who has stopped attending cup races for the same reasons. I would rather go to my local Saturday night track where 25 dollars gets you admission, something to eat, fun racing and you are home at 11 pm to do whatever.  JMO

all these other tracks have fewer people, but tracks like watkins glen are adding more seating in lots of areas. Plus you can buy a 4 day pass with a reserved seat on Sunday for $90, and that's in turn 1 with lots of action.
