ACCORD NY – Anthony Perrego won the season’s final modified race, a 50-lap contest that started with 28 cars, during the 2023 Gobbler at the Bullring Saturday. Perrego, leading from the start, fought through 10 cautions and was able to jump to the lead on each restart. He also battled Danny Tyler throughout most of the race until Tyler slipped to third and let Andy Bachetti pressure Perrego toward the checkered flag.
“Danny showed me the top is where you kind of have to fire off,” said Perrego, of his consistent restarts. “I didn’t want him to get under me because I didn’t know if he was going to run me up the track. Luckily he got bounced down around three and four, and we were able to sneak by him.”
Bachetti finished second as Tyler settled for third in the final race at the Bullring in 2023.
Walt Henry won the 25-lap Pure Stock feature after 10 cautions. Henry battled Brandon Conklin, who was second, during the last five laps. Ray Tarantino was third.
Chris Jakubiak won the 30-lap Sportsman feature after enduring nine cautions. Travis Green was second, and Hunter Lapp was third. Joe Judge was leading at the end of the race until he ran into a collected gaggle of cars in turns three and four en-route to an apparent victory. Judge had to move to the back of the field and finished 14th.
Lydia Navarro won the 20-lap All-Star Slingshot feature. Rob Charmello was second, and Tucker Jones was third.
Bodie Marks won the 15-lap Junior Slingshot feature. EJ Hatch was second, and Preston Trautschold was third.
