Admin, would there be a way to make a thread that can only be responded to by the author?  We need something other than negative trolls overtaking every post on here.  I love what you do, but the trolls are killing this site.

See above post for point.

What would the point of a Discussion Board post be if only the author could respond to it?  It is a "Discussion" Board.

Good call, maybe a different board on here.

There already is such a place, if all you want is to promote and get no negative feedback the appropriate section would be under press releases not a discussion board.

Use Facebook, then you have total control of the post and can delete comments. This is a public message board, the only way to do what you are requesting is to have the admin lock the thread as soon as you post it.

exactly Crankyhick, that's the reason a number of us are proud to have served in the military.  The concept of freedom of speech is the hardest to defend when you personally don't agree with it.  But defend it we must or we have no freedom.

Jim, just an idea, but you can open a group on Facebook that people have to ask to join. Easy way to weed out the trolls. I just set one up for the IMCA Modifieds. Seems to be working great so far.

Mod hat OFF--"The "Freedom of Speech" concept you refer to applies only in regards to matters involving the people and our government, not to private entities (like this board)...

Soooo Paz; I can say a Government Offical is a liar, but, "IF" I know a "private entity" (not refering to this site) is telling a "bald face lie" I have no right to say anything in response?....Hmmm....

A lot of good points, And sorry if it sounds like I want to stop the discussion, I don't.  It's just to me an anonymous poster holds zero credibility in my mind, and for the most part they are causing the trouble.

Jimmy has a great idea - his message is getting lost a little bit tho...

A lot of us racers use this website to get out, or retrieve information that is crucial to our racing programs or our schedules and it helps us all make decisions on what we do week to week.... this website is vital to information sharing for real racers.

In SOME cases... a great topic, a great thread and an important message gets hijacked by some negative posters or people just looking to get a rise out of other people and it ruins the actual intent of this website.

I'm all for free speech but in some cases I'm with Rowdy on this one....

Yes there is a difference between freedom of speech and private entities however censoring is reserved for swearing, name calling, and threats, not differences of opinion just because one side wants to hear nothing but sunshine and lollipops. You don't see espn or other websites editing discussions on the nhl lockout just because the nhl doesn't want to look bad.
