A true racer, a true Champion, a man that loved his family and had an unbelievable desire to race and to win. As we all search for our final memory, fortunately for me, mine is great, at the end of our season ending event at the Speedrome, I was doing my night ending chores, walking towards me was Tony, he came to me hand out, we shook hands as he said Thank you for everything, I responded by saying no, Thank you, he smiled with that Tony smile and walked away, I am lucky, it is a great memory and I am glad we had that moment.
Attached is a video I put together for our championship banquet celebrating Tonys Chemung Speedrome Championship. It was to honor him and his father and his family. I hope you can all take the 3 minutes to watch the video, it is a great tribute and a video of a man and his family and racing career.
I was told by a fan once, " a race with Tony Hanbury in it, is a race worth being at " I couldn't agree more. Thanks for the memories kid, You will be missed.
