Geoff says that it is "INCREDABLE" in detail.  I think Andy Harpell will like it also.  Boy, He is hard to get a hold of!!!!!!! 
  Body and paint is next.  I will be painting all the letters by hand.  I can't steer from the original goal now.  Its turning out as I planned so far.    Geoff didn't have all the fans back in the day.  But my Uncle (TK McLean) did, and this is were this whole idea came from, my family's past in Modified racing.

Hey Rip, Hope the pics I sent you a while back helped. The car looks amazing, so like everyone else I can't wait to see it painted. I always thought that Geoff's car was one of the best looking modifieds ever. Wish I would have been there to see it run.

Looks very nice Rip.  Being off Geoff's age and the old Shangila I can remember many a good days.  Remember many nights at the bar on top of the hill with him as well......oh my head...

Ya, Dad pops in now and then.    Bob Stapelton gave me the go ahead for Sat. practice at the drome.  So I'm taking the car to Chemung Sat. for open practice.  I have the little things fixed that happened @ Shangri-La II Sat.  My 1st event is at Sundance Vacation Speedway June 18th.  Hopefully with these 2 practice sessions I will have all the bugs worked out. 
    I have so many people to thank for the pictures of the car.  I haven't been in touch with everybody as much as I should have.  But I have been right at the car everyday sense the first of the year.    BlackSheep, Dave Dimick, Jimmy Dalrymple, Tom Holleran, Uncle TK if I for got somebody, I'm very sorry,  But I have talked to and email so many differant people.  It is hard to keep everybody informed on the progress.  That is why I thought I would do this post.    Thanks again everybody!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!            Racing Rip

Facebook posts and this thread have been keeping many more people in the loop. You're doing great with this project if you ask me (or that Geoff guy!).

Rip, very nice job on the restoration. I would like to echo CRANKYHICKS statement that I was never a fan of Geoff's either(4 obvious reason), lol, but always thought that was a neat car........We were having a discussion on another site that centered on when this car made it's debut('70,'71), you seem to be the perfect person to ask.........I know this car had and independent front end, one of the very first if not THE first. I was also wondering if the coupe that Geoff ran before this had independent front suspension?........any insight would be appreciated..........again, nice job.............................kt

I know it's a long ways off yet, but I'd like to send a personal invitation to the 5th Annual Modified Reunion at New Smyrna Speedway in Feb. 2012. You WILL get track time, you WILL get a ton of attention, and I promise you will have a blast turning laps on the high-banks. Maybe we could even get Geoff there to turn a couple of laps in it (he'll be in town anyways!!!).

So far, we have had a couple of Richie Evans cars (Pinto & Cavalier), an Ed Flemke Coupe and Pinto, a Bob Polverari Coupe & Cavalier, a Bob Krollage Coupe (last Coupe on Long Island), a Troyer Falcon, an Eddie Mumford Coach.... and around 20-25 more originals & tributes. Hope to have a Jim Shampine Super (original) this coming year, and there should also be a Lee Osbourne/Turner Brothers coach.

If you are a fan of the Golden Age of Modifieds from the Northeast, this is a place to show your wheels to a nice & enthusiastic, Modified appreciating crowd.

Forgot to mention a few others: A Gil Hearne/Durkin Troyer Pinto (original), the Jim Soucy owned Black Bandit, driven by both Hearne and Troyer (original), a Cotton Owens Coach (original), Gordy Woods Coupe that he won the Weedsport track championship in the early 60's (original), and a Roland LaPierre Coupe (original).

KT, just in case you thought the car was a restoration, it is a replica built from the ground up just like the original car. The original car was sent to the crusher and destroyed years ago. ;)

That is totally awesome.  When did the wing get put on?  I don't remember it but do not doubt that it indeed existed.  Just haven't ever seen a pic with a wing.  You should be very proud.  It is very difficult to do what you have done  and you have done it perfectly.  Don't wreck her before your done!  Great job!

The picture with the spoiler would have been taken at Lancaster Speedway in 1972 as there was snow on the ground for opening day .

Got um.      One I found here in town. The small left front Ted Scott gave me (what a guy!).  And Buck Sharpsteen (Sharpy) had 2 - 15" wide that have never been mounted.  I had to pay a pretty penny for them, But that's what this car is all about.  The story behind the tires from Buck goes like this:      My Uncle gave the tires to Buck after Geoff bought him out and went to run on his own.  TK no longer need them.  They have been in Buck's barn all these years.  I wonder what else is in that barn??????????

Are you gonna pass this car down to your kids? This car will be worth a considerable amount of money when completed! ;) Just dont crash it!
