454 Chevy Bellhousing Question

How many 454 bellhousing configurations were there? Did the 454 come with only the larger diameter flywheel (168 tooth)? And if I remember correctly, the 454 is externally balanced? Thanks!

Factory 454's are externally balanced. Use a special flywheel and balancer, if you have one it's best not to separate them unless you go full balanced assy.

Thanks Tim. I had done my research as far as that goes (well, just one of those useless things I remembered from working for Kevin Enders as a kid). I am all set up with a flywheel and balancer, I just needed to make sure I had the correct bellhousing. For an update, I took my car to get it inspected last Saturday, and the guy that owns the garage is quite the collector (looks like Sanford and Son's place), so I just happened to mention I was looking for a bellhousing for a 168 tooth flywheel. He took me over to the back of an old Dodge van and pulled one out. Said he'd never use it, and sent me on my way.  Thanks to the site from the link Rich found for me, I discovered that the piece I got was a very good score.
